The Flow Place began with a simple idea:
To create a welcoming space for movement, mindfulness, and connection.
A place where you can slow down, feel safe in your body, and reconnect with yourself in a world that often asks us to move faster, do more, and constantly strive for the next thing.
I’m Carissa Collins, founder of The Flow Place.

For me, movement has always been a way to connect with myself, with others, and with the world around me.
Growing up in Northeastern Ontario, I was surrounded by forests, lakes, and quiet spaces that shaped my deep appreciation for nature. Those early experiences, along with my love of gymnastics, soccer, running, and outdoor adventures, created a lifelong connection to movement.
When I discovered yoga, something felt different. Beyond the physical practice, yoga introduced me to the power of breath, mindfulness, and creating space to simply be.
Years later, during a season of uncertainty, yoga became an anchor. It helped me slow down, reconnect with myself, and remember that movement could be a source of support, self-care, and joy.
My journey to becoming a yoga teacher wasn’t a straight line. I began my teacher training once before but stepped away out of fear. In 2025, I returned to that dream with more trust, confidence, and clarity. I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training and stepped into the teacher I had always been becoming.
My journey as a teacher continues beyond my first certification. I’ve explored children’s yoga, sound healing, prenatal and postnatal yoga, and Pilates. I am always looking for new ways to deepen my understanding of movement and create meaningful experiences for the people I teach.
I love being a lifelong learner, and each new course brings fresh ideas, perspectives, and tools that I can weave into the spaces I create.
My background in environmental science continues to shape how I approach mindfulness, movement, and our relationship with the world around us. I believe caring for ourselves and caring for the planet are deeply connected. Time in nature, mindful movement, and intentional living all play a role in creating a more balanced and connected life.
The Flow Place is a mobile space for mindful movement, self-care, and connection, offering yoga, workshops, and community experiences throughout Northeastern Ontario and beyond.
Whether we meet outdoors, in a community space, online, or through a private session, my goal is always the same: to create a space where you feel welcomed exactly as you are.
My teaching style is gentle, intuitive, and rooted in mindfulness, curiosity, and joy.
You do not need to be flexible.
You do not need previous experience.
You do not need to change who you are before you arrive.
The Flow Place is a place to move, breathe, reconnect, and come home to yourself.
Mindful Movement
Movement is not about perfection or performance. It’s about creating a deeper connection with your body and learning to move in ways that feel supportive.
At The Flow Place, we focus on intention, awareness, and listening inward. Every practice is an opportunity to slow down, breathe, and reconnect.
Inclusivity and Community
You do not need to be flexible, experienced, or “good at yoga” to belong here.
The Flow Place is a space where you can arrive exactly as you are. Whether you’re stepping onto a mat for the first time or returning to movement after years away, you are welcome.
Connection is at the heart of everything I create.
Connection to Nature
Nature has always been a source of grounding and inspiration for me.
Whenever possible, we practice outdoors; under open skies, beside the water, and surrounded by the beauty of Northeastern Ontario. Moving in nature reminds us to slow down, reconnect, and notice the world around us.
Intentional Living
My background in environmental science shapes the way I approach movement and self-care.
I believe our relationship with ourselves and our relationship with the natural world are deeply connected. Through mindful movement, time in nature, and intentional choices, we can create more balance in our everyday lives.
Courage to Begin Again
The Flow Place is a space for every season of life.
A place to try something new, return after time away, move through change, and meet yourself with patience and compassion.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to begin where you are.
Joy and Balance
Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated or perfect.
There is space here for strength and softness, growth and rest, focus and play. Movement can be meaningful while still being joyful.
The Flow Place is about creating moments that help you feel more connected, grounded, and at home in yourself.
