OUR STORY

The Flow Place began with a simple idea: to create a welcoming space for movement, mindfulness, and connection. A place where you can slow down, feel safe in your body, and come home to yourself in a world that often asks us to go faster and do more.

I’m Carissa Collins, founder of The Flow Place. I’ve been practicing yoga for over a decade, and my journey to teaching has been shaped by nature, grief, courage, and a deep love for movement. Growing up in Northeastern Ontario, I was surrounded by forests, lakes, and quiet spaces that fostered my connection to the outdoors. Gymnastics, soccer, running, and outdoor adventures nurtured my love of movement from a young age.

My first yoga class introduced me to the grounding power of breath and stillness, a moment that stayed with me. Years later, during a time of uncertainty, yoga became my anchor and inspired me to teach. After stepping away from my first training out of fear, I returned in 2025 with confidence, presence, and trust in myself, completing my 200-hour training and becoming the teacher I had always wanted to be.

My academic background in environmental science shapes my teaching. Caring for ourselves and caring for the planet are intertwined. Yoga, mindfulness, time in nature, and sustainable living all come together in the classes, workshops, and retreats I offer.

The Flow Place is a mobile wellness space that meets you wherever you are; in community, in nature, or from the comfort of your own home. My teaching is gentle, intuitive, and grounded in mindfulness and joy. Here, there’s no need for perfect poses or rigid expectations. This is a space for connection; to yourself, to others, and to the world around you.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Mindful Movement
Our classes are built to support you. We move intentionally, with care, and in ways that feel good in real bodies. Movement is not about performance, it is about presence.

Inclusivity and Community
You do not need to be flexible, strong, or experienced to practice here. Every class is open to all levels, and everyone is welcome. You belong here.

Connection to Nature
Whenever possible, we practice outdoors, under the sky, beside the water, and surrounded by trees. Practicing in nature reminds us of our place in something bigger and helps us reconnect with the rhythms of the earth.

Environmental Awareness
With a strong background in environmental science, I am committed to practices that support both personal and planetary well-being. Sustainability, education, and care for the land are at the heart of this work.

Honesty and Courage
This space honors the full spectrum of your journey. You are allowed to try again, to start over, and to show up exactly as you are. Fear and growth can coexist. You are safe to explore.

Joy and Balance
Wellness can be soft, playful, and light. Through movement and community, we create space for joy, laughter, rest, and renewal.
