OUR STORY
The Flow Place began with a simple idea: to create a welcoming space for movement, mindfulness, and connection.
A place where you can slow down, feel safe in your body, and come home to yourself in a world that often asks us to go faster and do more.
I’m Carissa Collins, founder of The Flow Place.
I’ve been practicing yoga for over a decade, and my journey to teaching has been shaped by nature, grief, courage, and a deep love for movement.
Growing up in Northeastern Ontario, I was surrounded by forests, lakes, and quiet spaces that fostered my connection to the outdoors. Gymnastics, soccer, running, and outdoor adventures nurtured my love of movement from a young age.
My first yoga class introduced me to the grounding power of breath and stillness, a moment that stayed with me. Years later, during a time of uncertainty, yoga became my anchor and gently guided me back to myself.
I began my teacher training once before, but stepped away out of fear. In 2025, I returned. More grounded, more trusting, and ready. I completed my 200-hour training and stepped into the teacher I had always been becoming.
Since then, I’ve completed 30 hours in children’s yoga, a weekend training in sound healing, and I’m currently working through pre- and postnatal yoga teacher training while also exploring Pilates. I continue to deepen my understanding across different movement and wellness modalities so I can support people through more stages of life, with more tools, care, and adaptability.
My academic background in environmental science continues to shape my work. Caring for ourselves and caring for the planet are deeply connected. Yoga, mindfulness, time in nature, and sustainable living all come together in the classes, workshops, and retreats I offer.
The Flow Place is a mobile wellness space that meets you wherever you are: outdoors, in community, or from the comfort of your own home.
My teaching is gentle, intuitive, and rooted in mindfulness and joy. There is no expectation to be flexible, strong, or experienced. This is a space to move, breathe, and reconnect without pressure or perfection.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
Mindful Movement
Movement that supports you. We move with intention, care, and awareness, focusing on how it feels, not how it looks.
Inclusivity and Community
You don’t need to be anything other than who you are. All levels are welcome, and all identities are welcome here. You belong here.
Connection to Nature
Whenever possible, we practice outdoors, under the sky, beside the water, and surrounded by trees. Practicing in nature reminds us of our place in something bigger and helps us reconnect with the rhythms of the earth.
Environmental Awareness
With a strong background in environmental science, sustainability, and care for the land are woven into this work, supporting both personal and planetary well-being.
Honesty and Courage
This space honors your full experience. You are allowed to begin again, to move through fear, and to show up exactly as you are.
Joy and Balance
Wellness doesn’t have to be rigid. There is space here for softness, play, rest, and joy.
